From the way I see it... Symbolic Interaction Theory.

Hello everyone! In my Family relations class I learned so many great theories and concepts!… We learned about Symbolic interaction theory , Exchange Theory and about Family System Theory . All these topics were so worthwhile to learn about and I encourage y’all to check out my classmates' blogs, because they for sure will share more about these topics ; however, in my post I’d like to talk about what piqued my interest most, Symbolic interaction theory .   Symbolic interaction theory,  First of all: Please bear with me as I try to explain * to the best of my best understanding* this concept :). (And as a reminder, I’m far from a professional on the studies of Marriage and Family Relationships, so I encourage you to comment your thoughts and opinions even/ especially if we don’t see eye to eye :D ). My understanding, thus far, is that from birth we learn from our experiences. As humans, the way we perceive situations shape the way we think and act. For example, Here'...

GOOGLE IT

“Google It” it’s a phrase we have ALL heard, *if not* on a daily basis. It’s a comment that doesn't discriminate between age, gender, or even the tech savvy vs the technologically impaired. We all say it. We all do it. We all google it. But why? In my experience, I “google it” when I'm unsure of something, when I want the truth. Have you ever had to google a recipe? More than often when I’ve had to “google it”, it’s because I’m in a heated discussion with someone with the opposite opinion; therefore “google” becomes my “calvary” or sometimes (rarely haha) it is my downfall. Generally this is how it plays out: when I have no more facts or opinions in my argumentative arsenal, when we’ve tossed, tussled, and thrown our thoughts at each other, and we STILL can’t agree on a specific person or argument that seems correct/ or *more* correct- that's when we “google it”, it's our “hail mary” lobbing our un...

Why I blog. Hit up my Classmates too!

Hello, so to provide some context as to why I'm starting this blog... I recently started a  Family Relations  class at my College! And our wise professor, Professor Williams, thought rather than having our homework assignments only see the daylight of his desk that instead, we could blog, thus creating an opportunity to glean and share our experiences and perspectives with others! In addition to learning from a talented, experienced Professor, I also have to privilege of learning alongside many classmates who are equally knowledgeable and have many wonderful thoughts about Family Relations, on my blog profile, on the left side,  you can find all their blogs accounts ! I invite you, one day, sometime instead of scrolling TikTok or Facebook to hit up some wholesome content from my friends to you!

Hi, it's Colton.

Hello Blogging world,      Stephen R Covey, Author of  The 7 Habits  of Highly Effective People , once said,   “ Strength lies in differences, not in similarities .” I hope that by joining you all here in the Blogging World, we can enjoy and engage in uplifting and mind opening conversations! Despite growing up in the age of technology, this is my first time blogging! I have high hopes of making new friends, learning new perspectives, and ultimately growing stronger together in our beliefs, opinions and love for one another! Colton Simpson
